What is Your Path? Celtic Recon
About Me I have been a Celtic Reconstructionist for about 1 and a half years. During that same time I have also been an aspiring druid in the order of ADF. however I have given up that particular goal.

I am descended from a varied stock. On my fathers fathers side I am Northern German. On my Fathers mothers side I am English/Welsh (not quite sure which). On my Mothers mothers side I am Irish (with a hint of Scottish). On my Mothers fathers side, well we think I am Latin, but we don't want to get into that really.

My Matron Goddess is An Cailleach. She came to me during the snowstorm in which I gave up Christianity, and during that snowstorm she embraced me. From that time forward, even though I may not have known it at the time, I have been in service to her. In the near future I wish to get some form of formal binding to the Hag. This will probably take the form of a Tattoo of either her or of her name in Ogham script.
Music Final Fantasy (Nobuo Uematsu), Evanessence, Linkin Park, Green Day, 3 Doors Down, Clannad, Jeff Danna.
Movies Harry Potter, King Arthur (with Kirra Knightly), Van Helsing, The Chronicles of Riddick, FF-AC
TV Andromeda Ascendant, Roar, Gundam Wing, Evangelion, Stargate (both), Dr. Who (all the Docotors).

    Likes Spaghetti.
    Dislikes Spinach (cooked).
Hobbies Trading Card Games, Video Games (especially Final Fantasy).
Vices Trading Card Games, reading more books at one time than I can handle, and the Internet.
Virtues I work well with children and the elderly.
    Heroes Oisin, Lugh, Jaque DeMolay.

    I am Cathal

    Monday, July 23, 2007, 05:16 PM [General]

Hello, I am Cathal. I have been a Neo-Pagan for going on 7 years now. I started my path as an Eclectic Solitary Wiccan. Soon I moved on to try out Eclectic Hellenismos. Later I returned to Solitary Wicca. Following that I moved on to Neo-Druidism. Now I practice Celtic Reconstructionism.

My Matron Goddess is An Cailleach (pronounced An kal - əx). She is for lack of a better term a Hag Goddess. However for half the year she is either stone or a beautiful young maiden depending on which incarnation of the Lore you are relying on.

I don't really have a Patron God, but if I had to choose one I would choose Either Lugh or Oisin I guess (though Oisin is more of a Hero than a God). Both of them are role models of mine. So it is a tough decision.

I am a Student at Collin County Community College. I am working on my Associate of the Arts Degree. However at the moment I am taking my Summer Holiday (I tried to get a Summer Course but it didn't work out, and I don't think Summer Intensives are for me anyways). I also am interested in pursuing a career as a Camp Counselor of sorts. This will allow me to fulfill the roll of Fianiadh(sp?) that I so want to fulfill.

I *thought* you probably were a member of DeMolay, even if you'd never become a Mason... Let's just say I too have various Masonic ties! :-)

Hey, Cathal, thanks for your comments on my page! I look forward to participating in your Celtic R&R group. I certainly agree that it's not necessary to be "pure Celtic" (whatever that is-- scholars would have a field day debating) to be drawn to Celtic religion... for a few similar examples, I know a black woman who's really into the Norse runes, and I have some Jewish friends who relate more to Celtic paganism than to their own religious heritage. Sometimes it's a reincarnation thing, I firmly feel, but sometimes it's just plain because we're attracted to something we encounter with all the choices we have in today's world, whether we have any ancestral connection to the thing or not. Ah, sweet Mystery of Life... :-) Aha, I just noticed in your profile that Jacques de Molay is one of your heroes... hmmmm.... are you a Freemason, by any chance? :-) In Light, Sister Isadora
